The Galaxy J series from Samsung, which consists of affordable devices, it disappears as possible in 2019. According to an insider, the company plans a new budgetreeks to introduce.
No new Samsung Galaxy J in 2019?
Samsung is planning its current budgetreeksen to delete, so claims the usually reliable telecominsider MMDDJ on Twitter. In addition to the Galaxy J-series disappears, according to him, also the Galaxy On – and C-series, particularly in China and other emerging countries to be sold. The source makes not entirely clear whether the series worldwide disappear, or only in a few countries.
The rumor does not mean, however, that Samsung completely stops the production of cheap smartphones. According to the source, the company is in 2019 with two new series, the Galaxy P and Galaxy R-series. The R-series embraces probably traditional budgetsmartphones, while Samsung with the P-series as possible, try something new.
Galaxy P Samsung-name, but not Samsung-hardware
Devices in the Galaxy P-series would be the first ‘ODM’devices from Samsung. ODM refers to Original Design Manufacturer, and it means that not Samsung, but another company’s design and production. That other company must pay for a license for smartphones in the Galaxy P-series.
A good example is the Chinese TCL Mobile, which has a license for the development and launch of smartphones with the BlackBerry name. The BlackBerry Key2, that appeared recently, for example, is almost entirely by TCL.
Probably be this Galaxy P-smartphones only sold in China. Samsung has, as yet, little success with cheap phones and hopes with this new strategy, however, to break through. In addition, the company is assured of profit if other companies are paying for the Samsung brand name. The chance is small that the P-series also to Europe.
Samsung has not yet commented on the rumors. The manufacturer presents his budgetsmartphones usually in the spring, so it will be some time before we hear more about the plans for 2019.
